Through high-precision measurement and correction, the steel members can be installed at the design position to meet the requirements of absolute accuracy. Therefore, measurement control is the key process to ensure the installation quality of steel structures and the project progress.

General rules for installation control survey

1. Be responsible for all construction survey and setting out required by the project construction and survey control during steel structure installation, and cooperate with the supervision engineer in the auxiliary work of survey and inspection and all convenient conditions.

2. Before the commencement of the project, the General Contractor shall provide the elevation and coordinates of the existing datum points and measuring points. If the data provided by the General Contractor is considered to be incorrect, it shall be reported to the Engineer in writing within 5 days after the Owner provides the data.

3. After receiving the measurement datum points provided by the General Contractor, the measurement accuracy of the datum points (lines) shall be calibrated, and the accuracy of datum point data and data shall be rechecked, which shall be reported to the Engineer in writing.

4. The control network for the project shall be set based on the survey datum point (line) provided by the general contractor, according to the surveying and mapping standards and the construction accuracy requirements of the project, and the construction control network data shall be submitted to the supervision engineer for approval within 7 days after receiving the commencement notice.

5. The stakes of construction baseline, positioning point, control point and construction datum point shall be inspected after measurement, and the accuracy of measurement and positioning point shall comply with relevant regulations.

6. Be responsible for protecting the surveying datum points, datum lines, benchmarks and self added control points, and providing roads and protective railings leading to the points. The missing and damaged measuring points shall be repaired.

7. After the steel structure is installed, the node deformation data of the steel structure shall be measured at the same time every day as the basis of the control data, and appropriate corrections shall be made when necessary.
