The difference between heavy steel construction and light steel structure
In a sense, steel structures can also be divided into two categories, one is light steel structure and the other is heavy steel construction. And they come from many sources, but how exactly do they differ in detail and architectural use?
The first is light steel. For steel structures, there is no strict definition of light steel, because its main building structure can be said to be composed of a variety of structures. Such as cold-formed thin-walled steel, hot-rolled thin-walled steel, welded and high-frequency welded cold-rolled thin-walled steel construction, etc.
The second is heavy steel. The same is true for the definition of ordinary steel. There is no unified standard to measure the difference. It can only be said that many experienced designers or projects are not clear. However, it can be seen from some data references that there is a big difference. For example, in a steel structure workshop, if the weight exceeds 25 tons, then it is heavy steel. In addition, in the area of use, the weight of each M2 is greater than or equal to 50 kilograms, that is, the heavy steel structure and the thickness of the steel plate exceeding 10MM.
But these are just suggested references, there are of course many more. The two cases can be distinguished by, say, the weight of the members used in the design structure and the familiarity with the span. However, in many prefabricated buildings, due to material problems, the light steel and heavy steel can be adjusted in size and thickness during use. But in terms of architecture, like factories, landmark pavilions and high-rise buildings all belong to heavy steel.
For the two just now, the production is the same as the previous equipment, there must be different equipment to complete the output, and different workers to complete the processing process. Steel structure engineering completes the processing of formed steel through the combination of vertical, welding and straightening.
But the development of technology today has to be said to be a transcendent breakthrough. This technology not only enables light steel and heavy steel to use a single machine, but also completes the output by completing the parameter settings of the required equipment in each step through advanced professional equipment. This patented technology is also applicable to steel construction, be it heavy or light steel, is an excellent example. There is no need for developers to save costs for light steel and heavy steel, and there is no need for steel structures to reduce the burden on these two types of steel.
It can be seen that there is a big difference between light steel and heavy steel, or very small. But no matter what the difference is, this is the future development direction of steel structures.
